About this model
A toy beehive of no particular make: three stacked yellow hive boxes, each with a black hand hold on every side, a flat black bee on every side and a black entrance slot at the front, under a black lid with a striped bee sitting on top. The lid's sides are a honeycomb of hexagon holes cut right through, with a yellow wall standing behind them inside the lid, so by day you see a golden comb in a black frame and at night it glows on all four sides. Up to four laptop blades stand in a row inside the hive. Its walls are solid, so from outside you never see a computer board; the hand holds and bees are glued on. Air comes in through the slatted vents in the plinth and leaves through the honeycomb. You pick 2, 3 or 4 computers and the model stays the same size: 0.51 x 0.51 m, 92 cm tall.
Worth knowing
About 10.5 kg of filament with two computers and 12.3 kg with four (roughly 355 to 415 hours on a fast printer), in two colours: yellow for the hive, the wall behind the honeycomb and two stripes of the bee, and black for the lid, the hand holds, the flat bees, the entrance and the rest of the bee. The lid is printed in nine cells with a thin 1.2 mm top skin and glued together, so handle it with care. The hexagons are taller than a real honeycomb cell, so the model prints without supports. The bee and its wings are glued-on decoration, never lift the lid by them. It needs two 1 m LED strips, one for each half of the wall behind the honeycomb. The lid (plate, lid, inner wall and bee glued into one) is not glued down because it is the way in; lift it straight up with both hands by its skirt.

Budget black PETG.
Drives: every board keeps the drive its laptop came with (system only), so there is nothing to buy. A board bought without one needs a 256 GB M.2 2280 drive (approx. €56). Optional, not in the total: one shared disk of 1 TB or more for the render manager's shared folder, on one laptop board, in its own M.2 slot, or in a USB case (approx. €19) on the base floor. Reuse an old one, or buy a 1 TB M.2 2280 drive for approx. €136–146. Drive prices are approximate (October 2026): check before buying.

To print it at this size: 12.3 kg of PETG. Add 10% for waste and test pieces and that is 14 spools of 1 kg, approx. €196–266 with the PETG below (the shopping list above already includes filament). Print time, estimated: about 668 h with the standard 0.4 mm nozzle (Ender-3 V3 SE class), 414 h with a 0.6 mm nozzle.
Print times are slicer estimates (OrcaSlicer) and may vary by ±15 %.
