About this model

A wrapped present from no particular shop, with no tag and no lettering: a red box with a yellow ribbon down the middle of every side, under a deep red lid with the ribbon over it and a bow of four loops on top. Each side of the lid has six four-pointed stars cut through it; a yellow wall stands behind them inside the lid, so by day they look like gold stars and at night they glow. Up to four laptop blades stand in a row inside the box. Its walls are solid, so from outside you never see a computer board; the ribbon is glued on. Air comes in through the slatted vents in the plinth and leaves through the stars. You pick 2, 3 or 4 computers and the model stays the same size: 0.51 x 0.51 m, 88 cm tall. The glow at night is moderate, a soft light and not a lamp.

Worth knowing

About 10.7 kg of filament with two computers and 12.5 kg with four (roughly 360 to 420 hours on a fast printer), in two colours: red for the box and the lid, and yellow for the ribbon, the bow and the wall behind the stars. The lid is printed in nine cells with a thin 1.2 mm top skin and glued together, so handle it with care. The bow is decoration, never lift the lid by it. It needs two 1 m LED strips, one for each half of the wall behind the stars. The glow at night is moderate, a soft light, not a lamp. The lid (plate, lid, inner wall, ribbon and bow glued into one) is not glued down because it is the way in; lift it straight up with both hands by its skirt.

Prices with VAT as shown in October 2026. Shipping, glue and the boards are not included. Also not counted, if you do not own them: a multimeter (about €8.56) and a power strip (about €15.12).

Budget black PETG.

Drives: every board keeps the drive its laptop came with (system only), so there is nothing to buy. A board bought without one needs a 256 GB M.2 2280 drive (approx. €56). Optional, not in the total: one shared disk of 1 TB or more for the render manager's shared folder, on one laptop board, in its own M.2 slot, or in a USB case (approx. €19) on the base floor. Reuse an old one, or buy a 1 TB M.2 2280 drive for approx. €136–146. Drive prices are approximate (October 2026): check before buying.

To print it at this size: 12.5 kg of PETG. Add 10% for waste and test pieces and that is 14 spools of 1 kg, approx. €196–266 with the PETG below (the shopping list above already includes filament). Print time, estimated: about 675 h with the standard 0.4 mm nozzle (Ender-3 V3 SE class), 418 h with a 0.6 mm nozzle.

Print times are slicer estimates (OrcaSlicer) and may vary by ±15 %.
