About this model

A factory of no particular company or town: a square hall with pilaster strips and three floors of round-arched steel windows on every side, a sawtooth roof of three north-light teeth with a triangular window in every gable, and a tall square chimney against one corner. Up to four laptop blades stand in a row inside the hall. Its walls are solid, so from outside you never see a computer board; the windows on the walls are glued on and stay dark. Air comes in through the slatted vents in the plinth and leaves through the glazing of the sawtooth roof and the gable windows, which glow at night from a strip under the roof. You pick 2, 3 or 4 computers and the model stays the same size: 0.58 x 0.58 m with the chimney, 99 cm tall.

Worth knowing

About 10.6 kg of filament with two computers and 12.3 kg with four (roughly 350 to 410 hours on a fast printer), in two colours: a light one for the hall, the pilasters and the chimney, and a dark one for the windows, the sawtooth roof and the chimney cap. There are many small glued parts: 36 windows and 24 pilaster pieces. The chimney is five pieces glued end to end and onto one corner of the hall; it is for looks only: do not lift the factory by it. The sawtooth roof is nine pieces glued on its floor plate and is not glued down because it is the way in; lift it straight up with both hands.

Prices with VAT as shown in October 2026. Shipping, glue and the boards are not included. Also not counted, if you do not own them: a multimeter (about €8.56) and a power strip (about €15.12).

Budget black PETG.

Drives: every board keeps the drive its laptop came with (system only), so there is nothing to buy. A board bought without one needs a 256 GB M.2 2280 drive (approx. €56). Optional, not in the total: one shared disk of 1 TB or more for the render manager's shared folder, on one laptop board, in its own M.2 slot, or in a USB case (approx. €19) on the base floor. Reuse an old one, or buy a 1 TB M.2 2280 drive for approx. €136–146. Drive prices are approximate (October 2026): check before buying.

To print it at this size: 12.3 kg of PETG. Add 10% for waste and test pieces and that is 14 spools of 1 kg, approx. €196–266 with the PETG below (the shopping list above already includes filament). Print time, estimated: about 660 h with the standard 0.4 mm nozzle (Ender-3 V3 SE class), 410 h with a 0.6 mm nozzle.

Print times are slicer estimates (OrcaSlicer) and may vary by ±15 %.
