About this model

A carousel of no particular fair: a sixteen-sided canopy in red and white stripes with a scalloped valance, a crown with a pennant on top, eight horses on poles round a panelled centre drum, all on a round deck. Up to four laptop blades stand in a row inside the drum. The drum is solid, so from outside you see panels and horses, never a computer board. Air comes in through the arches in the deck rim and the slatted vents in the plinth behind them and leaves through the crown's windows, which glow at night while a strip under the valance lights the horses. You pick 2, 3 or 4 computers and the model stays the same size: 0.81 x 0.81 m, under 1 m tall.

Worth knowing

About 10.8 kg of filament with two computers and 12.6 kg with four (roughly 350 to 410 hours on a fast printer), in two colours: red and white. The horses are flat shapes, not carved, and there is a lot of gluing: 36 kinds of parts, a sixteen-sided canopy of thin flat panels on eight rafters, and each horse hangs on a pole of three glued pieces. Let the glue dry before you lift anything. The carousel is static: nothing turns. The canopy is not glued down because it is the way in; lift it straight up with both hands.

Prices with VAT as shown in October 2026. Shipping, glue and the boards are not included. Also not counted, if you do not own them: a multimeter (about €8.56) and a power strip (about €15.12).

Budget black PETG.

Drives: every board keeps the drive its laptop came with (system only), so there is nothing to buy. A board bought without one needs a 256 GB M.2 2280 drive (approx. €56). Optional, not in the total: one shared disk of 1 TB or more for the render manager's shared folder, on one laptop board, in its own M.2 slot, or in a USB case (approx. €19) on the base floor. Reuse an old one, or buy a 1 TB M.2 2280 drive for approx. €136–146. Drive prices are approximate (October 2026): check before buying.

To print it at this size: 12.6 kg of PETG. Add 10% for waste and test pieces and that is 14 spools of 1 kg, approx. €196–266 with the PETG below (the shopping list above already includes filament). Print time, estimated: about 662 h with the standard 0.4 mm nozzle (Ender-3 V3 SE class), 413 h with a 0.6 mm nozzle.

Print times are slicer estimates (OrcaSlicer) and may vary by ±15 %.
