Lessons & prices
What the lessons cost, and what else comes on top.
Nothing comes on top. No joining fee, no materials charge, no discount you have to ask for first. What is written here is what is on the invoice.

The normal case is the one-to-one lesson, weekly, always at the same time and with the same person. Everything else comes on top, if you want it.
Prices are per session. Billing is monthly. During the Tirol school holidays there are no lessons and nothing is charged.
Term
How longyou are tied in
- Signing up
- You sign up for one term. The winter term runs from September to February, the summer term from February to July. Without notice it carries on into the next term.
- Notice
- Four weeks before the end of term, informally by email to the office. We confirm in writing. After that it is over, with no questions and no talk to keep you.
- Holidays
- We follow the Tirol school holidays. In the holidays there are no lessons and nothing is charged, not even in part.
- If we cancel
- If a lesson falls through on our side, you get a make-up time. If that does not happen either, the session is credited on the next invoice.
- If you cancel
- Up to 24 hours ahead we move one lesson per term free of charge. Lessons cancelled later than that are charged, because the time cannot be given to anyone else.
Instrument
Hire it,before you buy
Children grow out of an instrument, often twice. So we hire out the ones that come in sizes.
- Guitar
- Buying pays off straight away here, because a usable classical guitar costs little and lasts. Size is what matters: a half or three-quarter guitar for children, not a full one. Lukas tells you what to look for before you buy, and looks over a second-hand instrument first.
- Piano
- For the first year a digital piano with 88 weighted keys and one pedal is enough. Fewer keys, or a keyboard with no weight, teach a child a touch they have to unlearn later. An acoustic instrument is lovelier and not needed at the start.
- Drums
- At home a practice pad and a pair of sticks are enough for the first year. Anyone buying a kit should talk to the neighbours first, and to us if an electronic kit is an option.
- Sheet music and materials
- You buy the books yourself, usually one or two a year. Photocopies, tuners and borrowed parts for ensemble pieces come from us and are not charged.
Questions
Six questionsthat always come up
What happens in the trial lesson?
30 minutes on the real instrument, in the room of the teacher you would have your lessons with. You play yourself in that first lesson, that is the point of it. You do not need to read music and you do not need an instrument of your own. The lesson costs nothing and afterwards nothing is agreed.
Do I have to buy an instrument straight away?
No. You hire a violin, flute or trumpet from us for 15 € a month, for as long as you like. For guitar and piano we advise you before you buy and look over a second-hand instrument. For the trial lesson you need to bring nothing at all.
From what age does each instrument work?
Piano, guitar and violin from six, drums and flute from seven, trumpet mostly from eight, because the permanent front teeth for the embouchure are not there before that. From five there is early musical education in groups of six, where no instrument is fixed yet.
What if my child wants to stop?
Then they stop at the end of the term, with four weeks' notice. Mid-term the fee stays due, because the time is reserved. Tell us beforehand if it is getting stuck: often it is the piece, the time of day or the practising, and all three can be changed.
Can two children come together?
Yes, in the group lesson for two, 30 minutes for 22 € per person. It works when both are at roughly the same stage and play the same instrument. If they are at different stages it gets heavy going for one of them, and we advise against it.
How much practice is needed at home?
In the first year five to ten minutes a day, better short and daily than long and once. Without it little happens, with it a surprising amount does. If a week falls through, nothing is lost. We would rather tell you that clearly than have you disappointed later.
The price is settled. Now for the trying out.
The trial lesson costs nothing and commits you to nothing. Picking a time takes half a minute.
