Guitar

Four chords will carry you through most campfire songs. Three of them sit after a few weeks. The fourth takes longer.

Tap a string. Drag the guitar to turn it. On a computer you can also play with your keyboard: 123456 for the strings, CGAF for the chords.

The four chords that almost every song gets by on. Strum one.

Listen C, G, Am, F, eight seconds. Exactly the four chords above, played one after another.

Who it is for

Is this for you?

From age 6
The fretting hand has to reach around the neck without the wrist bending away. For small hands we use a half-size guitar, shorter and narrower. Younger than that: early musical education, from age 5.
Starting out
No previous knowledge and no reading of music. Guitar begins with chord diagrams. The stave comes later.
After three months
Three chords and a change between them that no longer stalls. Roughly what you hear in the sample above.
Practising at home
Your own guitar from the first lesson, and a second-hand one is fine. Tell us before you buy one and we will look at it with you.
Adults
Guitar is our most common instrument for adults. People who start at forty are singing along to their first song after six months.

One-to-one lesson, 45 minutesThe usual choice from secondary school on, and for adults. 46 €

Prices are per lesson. We bill monthly. There are no lessons during the Tyrolean school holidays and nothing is charged for them.

Teachers

Who you will sit with

Lukas Kirchmair

Guitar, electric bass

He has played in bands since school and has taught for nine years, five of them at Tonleiter. He starts with the song that brought you in and builds the chords around it. With children only the right hand comes first: the rhythm before the chords.

Teaches Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, afternoons and evenings.

The first lesson is there to try things out.

We put a hire guitar in your hands and you walk out again with your first chord. Then you decide.
